March 7th - Stamford Bridge Art Club  Newsletter - March 2012

Our A.G.M. Was held on Feb. 24th.  Here are notes from the meeting:-

2011 was another successful year in which we continued to grow and provide a wide variety of events and activities. At club nights we had the usual array of  demonstrations from members – collage, life drawing, oil painting, water colour, silk painting, acrylics, and also Stained Glass  from Simon and Pastel workshops from Cath Inglis and Margaret Hicks. We also had visits to the new Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield and Walker Gallery in Harrogate. Our Summer exhibition was well received and the excellent Christmas party finished of the year on a great note.

Club Officials -Tom, May, Dave and Ade will continue in their posts and Mal Hall has agreed to be the club representative on the Village Hall committee.
We will now pursue a club constitution and bank account.
Meeting subs. Will increase to £2 per adult and free for children under 16 from March 8th.  Our current income level is just covering our costs and it was thought the increase was reasonable and will provide a 'cushion' for  current spending. This will be reviewed in 6 months as we have potential to raise income through other means – 2013 calendar, exhibitions, more members, sponsorship/fund raising etc.
Publicity – we have the website but we should also use the Link more frequently. Dave T. has agreed to produce a club card for members and general publicity.
Club Logo – there will be a competition, and the winner will be announced at our exhibition on May 27th.
Exhibition – will be on May 27th.  (including a BIG picture)
A second Exhibition will be held in November with competitions and stalls.

    Future Events and dates.

March 8th – Next meeting.  We are looking at how we can produce packs of cards/note-lets for sale. Please bring along any pictures we can scan or photograph. Tom will bring a scanner, computer and card.

April 19th – Last date for  submission for Calendar – the theme is 'out and about in our area'. We aim to have it for sale in July.
May 27th – Exhibition (10-5pm). There will be a BIG PICTURE to have ago at.
Nov  ??    - Second Exhibition
Dec 13th – Christmas Party

At club nights we will be encouraging you to have a go at setting up a Still Life or giving a short talk (10mins) on a favourite artist, picture or anything arty.
*****************************************************************************
Feb 10th - the bad weather meant there was no meeting last night (9th) But our next meeting (23rd) will be our AGM. Please come and have your say.
-  Our Exhibition will be on Sunday 27th May 10 - 5pm.
- How are you doing with the Calendar pictures?

Jan 27th - Thanks for a good night last night. Here are a few notes on what we decided.
               - AGM will be on Feb 23rd.
               - Exhibition will be in May (a Sunday) with a BIG picture to tackle. Details to follow.
               - Calendar - themed around East Riding but not essential. Pictures submitted by end of April ready for sale by  July (or earlier).

Jan 9th - 2012 Newsletter

“Happy new year” and I hope 2012 will bring all you wish for.

2011 was another very successful year.  We continue to grow and have had lots a of activities and group events, ending with a smashing Christmas party. The variety and standard of work continues to show what a talented lot we are. All done in a friendly and engaging way. Long may this continue.

This year, I am sure will be even better. We have plans for another calendar and summer exhibition/open day. We always need your ideas to plan other activities and events. Remember, it's your club and we need to know what you want. I have a new display board for club nights where you can put any ideas etc.

Our next meeting is on January 12th. This will just be a club night so bring along all your 'new' arty stuff and anything else you have done over the Christmas break.

Date for the next few meetings – Jan 26, Feb 9, 23, Mar 8, 22.

I will update the website with more dates and activities etc. Please keep checking, as this is the main way to keep you updated.

Best wishes

Tom
